BernCo Bernie Debuts Second Book "The Adventures of BernCo Bernie – Another Day to Play"

03/13/2017

Today, BernCo Bernie’s second book, The Adventures of BernCo Bernie – Another Day to Play made its debut at a book premiere event held at the historic Hiland Theater.

The red carpet event featured the real life inspirations for the human characters in the book and a drawing for children to have a chance to win a characterization and appearance in BernCo Bernie’s third book of the series. Children who successfully completed BernCo Bernie’s reading challenge held in February were entered into the drawing.

BernCo Bernie is the spokessheep of Bernalillo County and helps educate citizens about the county’s 14 Open Space properties that total more than 1,550 acres. The second book of the children’s book series explains how BernCo Bernie and his friend Mr. Roadrunner continue their adventures at the county’s open spaces as they learn how to stay healthy and keep Bernalillo County clean and beautiful along the way.

The book is available for check out from all city/county public libraries. There are five different Bernie bookmarks featuring images from the second book that are free to the public and will be available in the libraries as well. The first book, The Adventures of BernCo Bernie, is also available for check out from all of the city/county public libraries.

The Adventures of BernCo Bernie – Another Day to Play is a bilingual book. The book was written by balloonist Brad Cutler of Bernalillo County, illustrated by Marisol Baird of Santa Fe, and translated into Spanish by Sara T. García of Albuquerque. The book was funded by a grant from the state Tourism Department’s New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Program and was produced entirely by New Mexico talents.
