Bernalillo County Warns Drivers of Livestock on MDC Roadways


The county wants to warn drivers to be aware of cows and horses that can sometimes be on or near Deputy Dean Miera Drive, Shelly Drive and on the I-40 Frontage Road, all of which all lead to the Metropolitan Detention Center.

Recently there have been numerous occasions where livestock in large numbers are on the roadways. This is even more of a concern at night and at sunset.

Drivers are urged to take special caution by slowing down, using headlights, and be aware that the livestock are showing up on the roadways with more frequency.

Bernalillo County is looking at ways to address the problem, that could include additional lighting and signage on Deputy Dean Miera Drive, which is on county property.
