Treasurer Nancy M. Bearce Reminds Property Owners Taxes Are Due April 10

The second half of this year’s property tax bill is due on April 10, and county property owners again have many options to pay their taxes, Bernalillo County Treasurer Nancy M. Bearce said today.

Property tax bills for 2016 were sent Nov. 2, 2016. The first half was due on Nov. 10, 2016.

Property owners can pay their taxes by mail, online or by simply coming into the Treasurer’s Office in person in the basement of One Civic Plaza NW.

Additionally, 12 banks and credit unions will accept property tax payments from April 1 through May 10, 2017, including:

· Bank of Albuquerque

· People's Bank

· Bank of New Mexico

· Rio Grande Credit Union

· First Financial Credit Union

· State Employees Credit Union

· First National Rio Grande

· Wells Fargo

· MyBank

· US Eagle Federal Credit Union

· New Mexico Bank & Trust

 

 

Payments can also be dropped off at the following drop boxes, including Westside, Paradise Hills and Raymond G. Sanchez Community Centers; the Motor Vehicle Division office in Tijeras; and at the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Government Center at Fifth Street and Marquette Avenue NW.

Other details about this year’s tax bills include:

Bernalillo County 2016 tax bills were mailed out on Nov. 2, 2016. If property tax owners didn't receive a tax bill or are unsure of the amount owed, they should call Customer Service at (505) 468-7031.

Collection Dates: The second half installment is due April 10, 2017. Taxes are delinquent after May 11, 2017, which means penalties and interest are added on.

For mailed payments, cash payments are not accepted. Please send a personal check, cashier’s check or money order. The parcel identification must be included for proper credit.

Payments should include a valid 2016 tax coupon(s) or documentation referencing parcel/UPC number. The indicated payment amount should match the check amount.

Please note that Bernalillo County collects property taxes not just for Bernalillo County but for several other local governments as well, including the City of Albuquerque, Albuquerque Public Schools and the state of New Mexico.
